About This Journey

Seoul was definitely a fun place to visit. As I'm very interested in korean culture, I was really anticipating the trip long before it happened. It was quite chilly there as I went around December. Though strolling along the busy streets and enjoying fantastic treats were fun, the most exciting part of my journey was being able to visit the newly open pop up store: house of BTS. It was a very magical experience. I also got to visit the gyeongbukgong palace when I visited Seoul. Being able to stroll around the palace while wearing Hanbok, the traditional clothing of Korea, was a very different experience.

Top 3 Spots

House of BTS

#01 House of BTS

An explosion of color, one of the newest experiences available to BTS fans is the group’s official pop-up store, entitled House of BTS. This location has everything from a lawn of huge “Army Bombs” to a piano you play with your feet to photo opportunities inspired by their music videos. Inside the pop-up shop, fans can also purchase exclusive merchandise like a fuzzy pink jacket and a plaid flannel. As an Army (BTS Fandom name), it was such a wonderful experience seeing some of the MV settings for BTS-IDOL.

Gyeongbukgong Palace

#02 Gyeongbukgong Palace

Gyeongbukgong Palace was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. It was built in 1395 and is the largest of the Five Grand Palaces built by the Joseon dynasty. Gyeongbokgung served as the home of Kings of the Joseon dynasty, the Kings' households, as well as the government of Joseon. Being able to stroll arounf the palace while wearing a Hanbok was absolutely delightful. Though I'll never know how it was like to live in that era, it was certainly fun to be able to wear something traditional while walking around in such a historical place.

Lotte World

#03 Lotte World

Operated by Lotte Group, Lotte World is the perfect spot for entertainment and sightseeing for Koreans and international tourists alike. The theme park is divided into the indoor Lotte World Adventure, and the outdoor lakeside Magic Island, with additional amenities including a shopping mall, folk museum, ice rink, hotel, and more. I would definitely recommend walking about Lotte World for 2 days as it's quite a big place and it would be best if I had more time to wander this place.
